5 Resume Must-Haves

Getting a job can be tough with a struggling economy. Therefore, it is important to have a good resume to increase your chances of attracting the attention of employers. There are five things that you definitely want on your resume.

1. Your personal information

You want to make sure your name is on the resume and spelled correctly. Be professional and avoid using nicknames. Your address, phone number and e-mail address should also be included. You want to make sure that the information is current. If your phone number or e-mail address is wrong, the employer can’t get in touch with you.

2. State your objectives

You need to testify as to what you can do for the company. Tell your prospective employer about your skills and how much they need you. Make sure you use relevant words that state who you are. Employers scan over these resumes quickly; therefore, they try to find keywords that are beneficial.

3. Job Experience

You need to list all jobs that you have had. Include those through high school and college, and put your last job first and go backwards. You should include your position, name of the company, location of the job, employment dates and description of responsibilities.

4. Educational History

List where you attended high school, your college degrees, certificates and licenses. Include which type of degree you obtained, as well as your grade point average and academic achievements. Make sure you state the name of the school, the address and dates attended. If you are straight out of college, your educational history should be included before your job experience.

5. State your noted accomplishments

You need something that will set you apart from the other applicants. You should include your charity work or other worthy causes that you have contributed to. If you went to a state to help tornado victims, put it on your resume. It might catch the eye of an employer and get you an interview.

If you are ready to enter the workforce, you need to create an enticing resume, so that you will be more likely to get a job. The necessary information in a resume could be the difference in you having employment or having your resume thrown in the trashcan.
