The insurance industry consists of 3/5 of the country’s actuaries. Those that do not work within the insurance industry are generally employed by private corporations, financial services, public agencies or sometimes the government. With a strong mathematical background, those within the insurance industry will write insurance policies and be able to fully explain the mathematical calculations to policyholders, executes, the public, etc. Actuaries can work for a corporation creating retirement plans, pension plans or other type of financial or insurance plans or can work as a company consultant independently.
