Out of Work But Staying a Strong Candidate

Many people are currently out of work due to downsizing, job closings and business reconstructions. Despite this, there are many job positions still available in the job market. In competitive times such as this, it is extremely important for the job seeker to remain a strong candidate in the eyes of prospective employers. One must continuously make the very best efforts to seek new positions and market his or her talents. The following are tips on how a person can stay a strong candidate while out of work:

Seek Employment Daily

In order to stay on the employment radar, a job seeker must put continuous efforts into seeking employment. A passive job seeker will not stay fresh in employers’ minds because there are hundreds of thousands of people filling out applications every day. Job seekers must be proactive and complete employment applications online and in person at every place possible.

Apply More Than Once

Many large businesses have a short-term application life period. A job seeker’s application can become inactive in 30-60 days. A great way for a person to remain a strong candidate is to reapply after the application period expires. This not only shows persistence, but it also keeps that person’s name fresh in the employer’s database.

Join Career Websites

Career websites often have access to positions that are not available elsewhere. Additionally, many of these sites offer networking services. One employer may not have interest in a candidate, but it may still forward that applicant’s information to another employer. A good practice for an active job seeker is to join as many career websites as possible.

Visit Local Unemployment Office

The local unemployment office offers a wide variety of services including use of computers and job connection tools. Job counselors are also available to help people make smart employment decisions. Anyone who is out of work can take advantage of these services. The goal of the unemployment office is to return workers to the job market.

Stop doubting yourself, work hard and make it happen.

Update Resume

Updating one’s resume is the most important aspect of success for obtaining employment. Again, there are many people competing for job positions. Having the best resume possible increases a person’s chances of being hired.

Professional resume services can help a job seeker to create the perfect piece that will peak an employer’s interest. A good resume will state that person’s talents and experience. It will also have proper formatting and wording. The style of one’s resume can often catch an employer’s eye as well. A job seeker will want to submit something that has a special flair and stands out from the rest of the resumes.

A job seeker’s best bet is to gain access to resume services. He or she will need to choose the correct template, format, time line and wording. A person’s resume is the first thing an employer looks at. In order to remain in any employer’s mind, the applicant’s resume must be spectacular.

What a letter of Introduction and Resume for Teaching should Look Like

When applying for a job as a teacher there are two sections to your application.

  1. The letter of introduction
  2. The resume.

Here is a sample letter to a high school:

Dear Principal Jones,

Attached please find my resume for your review in consideration of a teaching position at Grant High School. I have always enjoyed the marvelous sense of accomplishment that comes from teaching and would appreciate the opportunity to use this enthusiasm at Grant High School.

For me, teaching is an opportunity to create a place for students to learn in a positive, creative, fun environment. I can contribute to History, Government, English, and Literature studies. I possess a full accreditation and I have experience teaching at all high school levels in addition to teaching pilots and navigators to speak and understand English while stationed in Japan

I have no doubt that the students as Grant High School will benefit from my varied professional accomplishments. I hope you agree.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to setting a time for us to meet in person and discuss the possibilities further.

Sincerely

James Gleason

Adjust Your Resume

Your resume is more than just a list of your previous jobs and experiences. Tailoring a resume to fit each different job you apply for can make a big impact on a potential employer.

Your resume should have a stated objective at the top, specific to the job you want. The objective should include a brief statement highlighting your qualifications for the job. For example, if you’re applying for a job as a staff assistant for Acme Company, your objective should read something like, “To secure a staff assistant position at Acme Company, drawing on solid office management skills.”

Like the objective, the job experience you list should pertain specifically to the job you are trying to get. Every job has multiple duties, and by placing more emphasis on the duties that are relevant to the position you’re seeking, you will come across as more qualified for the job. For example, if you’re considering a job as a sales clerk in a clothing store and one of the positions on your resume is a waitress job at a restaurant, don’t focus on the skills of waiting tables. Rather, focus on the people skills you honed at that job, such as “Interacted with customers to provide a pleasant dining experience,” or “Helped diners choose what to order by describing the food in a straightforward, descriptive manner.” These statements focus on your interactions with the customers. If you’re applying for a bartending job, you can frame that same experience in a different way, such as “Waited on multiple tables at the same time while ensuring all diners were satisfied with the service,” showing that you can multi-task and handle more than one order at a time.

If you have a great deal of experience in many different fields, it’s okay to leave some jobs off your resume as long as these omissions don’t leave a large gap of time that makes it appear that you were unemployed for that time. For example, if you worked as a teacher during the day and as a telemarketer at night, and you’re applying for a teaching job, you can leave the telemarketing job off since it’s irrelevant to teaching and won’t leave a time gap. The key is to provide your potential employer with as much relevant information as possible, without overloading the resume to the point where it’s watered down.

The main point to remember is that you want each potential employer to feel like you have really done your research and you know exactly what you want in a job. Tailor each resume to the specific employer, and you will find that you end up with more interviews and job offers than you would sending a general, vague resume to those employers.

Unemployment Can Be Unattractive. And Unemployment of men is repellent.

Even though it may only be subconscious, many women find men who do not have a job repellent. When a man is interested in maintaining a solid and mutually caring relationship, it is important for him to not only be kind, considerate and romantic, but also stable. One of the best ways to present a stable image is to have a steady job or career path.

In the past, dating all the way back to primitive humans, it was mainly a man’s duty to provide for his family. In modern times, both men and women are equally active in the work force. However, a man without a job or solid career path does not come across as stable. Women may think that a man without a job is not driven or passionate enough. Women may associate these traits not only with the man’s life and ability to provide, but also with the relationship itself.

In situations when a woman does feel comfortable being with a man who has no job, the woman’s family may still be uncomfortable. She may feel pressure from her relatives or friends, and this can strain a relationship. Even though the man’s partner or significant other may have a steady job, a man who cannot land or hold onto a job does not present a secure, comfortable image.

It can be difficult to secure a great job, even if you have many skills in your chosen field. It is important to seek a job that you can excel at. Think about what your personal skills are, and also what you may have studied or trained for. You may need to be somewhat flexible about exactly what you want in a job. Sometimes simply getting your foot in the door and gaining experience can lead to more lucrative or desirable opportunities in the future.

When large numbers of men are unable to find work, unemployment results.

A professional resume is also a true benefit when you are looking for a job. Even if you do not have a great deal of experience to add to the resume, the simple act of preparing a professional document that outlines your qualities can make you shine in the eyes of a future employer. Keep your resume concise and to the point, but make sure to highlight the traits and skills that will make you an asset to the company you are applying for. A clean, professional looking resume shows that you can be organized and are well prepared.

Once a man has a secure job and has set his foot on a career path where he can reach his potential, potential partners are sure to be more attracted. Remember that if you are passionate about life and what you do for a living, other people will find you passionate and enjoyable to be around.
