When your supervisor points out something particularly good that you did, make sure that you explain you did it yourself or with help from your co-workers. Only take responsibility for the things that you did and do take away from the work of your co-workers. Do not be afraid to take responsibility for the things that you did wrong either, as your supervisors might view it as a learning experience.

Tips for Securing an Internship at Google

An internship at Google is something many people apply for and something that very few actually manage to get. Google is renowned world-wide for how they treat their employees, for their employee-friendly facilities and unique methods of fostering workplace teamwork. The salary isn’t bad either. Google accepts student interns from many disciplines, be it Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics, Physics and a considerable number of other subjects. Students who have any amount of experience in multiple fields are recommended to apply because of the diverse way Google operates.

At a Google internship, you’ll learn how one of the largest companies in the world operates. You’ll be expected to perform for at least three months’ worth of full-time work.

Needless to say, Google internships are not the easiest things in the world to land. There’s a few simple things that you can do in order to improve your chances that you’ll get one if you can successfully make it to the interview stage.Remember to be confident above all else. Don’t ever panic. One of the people who interviews interns as his job posted that he likes to ask questions to potential interns simply to see if they’ll get nervous or otherwise “freak out.” In order to understand why this happens, you must first know that Google has a very high turn away rate and an even higher “false negative” rate.

Thus, the need for confidence arises. If you’ve made it to the interview portion of trying to get an internship with Google, you’re likely qualified. If you get asked a math question or something that you might not have the slightest clue about, try to answer it anyway. If you don’t know what the answer is, talk about how good you are at learning what’s required for the job and then talk about your grades if the question applies to a subject. If you’re in an interview for an internship at Google, and this can’t be said enough, you’re likely more than qualified already because you’ve got your foot in the door. So, all you need to do is prove it.

I’m doing an internship, so I’m not getting paid. But the experience of meeting artists and working with record companies is priceless.

There are also two things that you never want to do: Never tell the interviewer what is important for their company and never tell the person interviewing you how to conduct the process. Those are two marks that will instantly earn you strikes. The person interviewing you already works for the company and furthermore, unless they ask you for your opinion, they already know what their company needs. It makes sense when you think about it, but you wouldn’t believe how many people make these mistakes in an interview.

The only other real big thing you need to make sure you’re able to answer is a few questions about how data structures and such work. If “Computer Science” is on your resume, you’ll likely be expected to know about any number of general theories. Just knowing general theories is generally enough to get you by with an interviewer. The last word of wisdom is that if you fail and get turned down for your Google internship position, don’t feel discouraged. Re-apply in six months and try again because you may have just gotten an interviewer that didn’t like you or you may have been having a bad day.

Careers in the field of Education come in many flavors and varieties. Most of us just think of teaching positions when considering a job in education. There are many positions available in education that do not require a teaching credential or any classroom involvement.

Remember, most Colleges and Universities rely on Financial Aid in the form of loans, scholarships, and grants, as their major source of income. Another example is using your resume filled with customer service related jobs allows you to emphasize those skills to become an Academic Advisor at a College or University. There are many education related positions available in School District Offices, County Offices of Education, and at the State and Government levels for individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Your resume should reflect keywords used in the education position for which you wish to apply. Often these keywords include ‘Best Practices’, ‘Rigorous Standards and Practices’, ‘Fully Qualified Educator’, and other terms that apply broadly throughout the education industry. If your strengths include logical, progressive thinking abilities, be sure that your resume reflects those talents. Credential Analysts are needed in nearly every area of education, but that position requires strong abilities in analyzing and evaluating documents as well as people. There is little or no tolerance for mistakes or errors in this area, so place emphasis on projects you have done that reflect successful qualities with measurable results.

Many Colleges and Universities will provide free education to their employees, and free or reduced tuition costs to the employee’s immediate family members.
