Mechanical engineering

While manufacturing workers are largely responsible for putting a product's pieces together, mechanical engineers are charged with creating those pieces. They're involved in the design, cutting, and craftsmanship of heavy materials like aluminum and sheet metal, and they ensure that a product will fit together and last a long time once assembled.
