A person who studies the earths atmosphere is called a meteorologist. Meteorologists are most commonly seen on television stations forecasting the weather. In order to do this, the meteorologist collects quantitative data regarding the current state of the Earth's atmosphere via satellites and then predict how the atmosphere will evolved over a period of time.
