Is There Such A Thing As Recession-Proof Jobs?

When people were children, their mothers always told them if they took a job in, let’s say, the automotive industry, they would always have work. To a certain extent, Mom was right. Nowadays, however, the logistics have changed, in that IT, programming and marketing are the careers in which people will always have a job. On the other hand, why are there so many empty buildings that once housed thriving corporations? The answer is that the corporations have moved into the 21st century, outsourcing their work, cutting overhead to nothing in hopes of making a profit.
What this means for the job seeker in a bad economy is that he has the upper hand. The job seeker has the knowledge and experience needed to answer the help wanted advertisement as well as how to make the human resources manager rest easier. Offering to outsource the company’s work as a telecommuter puts the job seeker in the catbird seat because that looks good to the human resources manager as well as his higher echelon. Everyone needs to cut corners in this economy, so the job seeker with an answer to the problem will probably get the job.
Green work is another big thing today. The planet is so badly abused that people are doing whatever they can to help. If the job seeker knows anything about green renewable energy sources, construction or reducing the carbon footprint, he has a job. The auto industry, as well, is going green, so if the job seeker knows engineering or salesmanship, he has a job. Green industries are hiring like mad to flesh out the body converting carbon to green; spending time in this industry looks good on the resume.
Search any job listing directory online and many security jobs will be listed. Low morale, distrust and plain old anger at persons who put the economy in this condition makes people do desperate things. It might not be visible to the general public, but security has been stepped up in many areas of business. Check those listings because security at labs and offices, as well as stores is necessary.
The foods industry will always need help. For that matter, people need food, clothing, shelter and health care. If the job seeker can manage people or design a health care plan, streamline the business to save money or consult, then he will always have a job.
